“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” - Hebrew 10:25

WELCOME TO OUR CHURCH
On behalf of the members, family, and friends of Greater Gordon Chapel AME Church, we would like to take this time to greet you and extend an invitation to you and your family to join us at Greater Gordon Chapel. As a community, we strive to minister to the social, spiritual, and physical development of all people.

Our goal is to be a place where all people, regardless of race, color, creed, gender, or sexual orientation, connect with God, engage in ministries of service that strengthen our bonds with all members of the human family, and collectively discern how God desires for us to live in relationship with both God and those whom we are called to be in a relationship.
If you are new to the Shreveport area or are in the process of looking for a church home, prayerfully consider making Greater Gordon Chapel your spiritual residence because here at Greater Gordon Chapel, we believe "God Our Father, Christ Our Redeemer, Holy Spirit Our Comforter, and Humankind, Our Family" that manifests itself in vibrant worship experiences, substantive community engagement, and love for our neighbors.
Be blessed, and we’ll see you soon at Greater Gordon Chapel.

Yours In Christian Service,

Rev. Aundry Evans
“Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, 'Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.' Jesus replied, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.'” - St. John 3:1-3
TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP
FULL MEMBERSHIP
Persons joining into full membership from other denominations are enrolled in the New Members class. Converts are placed on probation under the care of a Class Leader for three (3) months. At the end of that period, if all qualifications for membership are met, they are accepted into full membership. If a person has not been baptized, he/she will meet with the pastor to undergo baptismal counseling and be baptized before being taken into full membership. (There are three modes of Baptism: Sprinkling, Pouring, and Immersion.)
AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP
Persons who are members of another AME Church but live far from that Church can join as affiliated members. This allows them all the rights of membership while they also maintain membership in their home church.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
Persons who are members of denomination or non-denominational congregations but live far from their home church can join as associate members. In some congregations what we refer to as associate membership is called "watch-care membership." This type of membership is common among college students and armed service personnel at a temporary duty station.

TRANSFER MEMBERSHIP
Membership can be transferred from one AME Church to another. Persons joining into full membership who are transferring from another AME Church can be received into full membership.
